Steven Gerrard sent Rangers Ianis Hagi warning as ex-Romania boss gives 'not Manchester City' verdict

Former Romania boss Christoph Daum is puzzled why Ianis Hagi isn't a regular in Rangers' starting XI.

The playmaker has enjoyed a stellar season for the Ibrox side and has impressed during the second half of the campaign, in particular, scoring six goals and providing nine assists.

However, he isn't always first name on the teamsheet as he's only started 20 of Rangers' 33 Premiership games this term.

Daum understands there is fierce competition to get into Steven Gerrard's side, but has questioned why Hagi hasn't played more, saying it's not like Rangers are Manchester City.

He told Playsport: "He is a very talented player.

"Sometimes I watch Glasgow Rangers matches and he is not in the starting XI and I don't understand why.

"Glasgow are not Manchester City...

"I don't understand how he can train and how he can develop his performances, given that he is not always in the first XI.

"Of course, we accept Gerrard's choices, but we all know that Ianis is an excellent and very talented player."
