Steven Gerrard sent friendly Rangers warning by old Liverpool pal after Galatasaray draw

One of the story lines from Rangers' draw with Galatasaray is Steven Gerrard will come up against his old Liverpool team-mate Ryan Babel.

The pair played together at Anfield and while Gerrard has since hung up his boots and went into management, the Dutch forward is still playing at a high level for the Turkish side.

And it seems the pair still keep in touch after Babel sent a friendly warning to his old pal.

Gerrard expressed his delight after their 4-0 win over Willem II as they progressed to the Europa League play-off round.

He said on Instagram: "Good team performance."

Babel then replied: "See you soon Steve," as the former Liverpool duo enjoyed a back and forth.

It's set to be a close game between the two sides with Rangers' home advantage somewhat reduced due to the absence of fans.

But they'll be full of confidence after their convincing victory in Tilburg on Thursday night.

Ryan Kent, James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and Filip Helander were all on the scoresheet as Rangers recorded yet another clean sheet to start the season.
