Steven Gerrard sends Andy Robertson defiant Liverpool message after star suffers FIFA World XI snub

Steven Gerrard has come out in support of Andy Robertson after the Liverpool star missed the Best FIFA Awards Men’s World XI cut.

The Scotland captain is regarded by many as the finest left-back in world football and the Rangers boss is of the same opinion.

Gerrard took to social media to issue a message to both Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold after the pair were omitted from the team announced on Monday.

Liverpool pair Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker both made the cut during the glitzy event in Milan.

And the Rangers manager had some words of encouragement for full-back's moving forward.

He posted on Instagram: "We know so it doesn't matter."

The team didn't include a natural right-back but many observers were shocked that Marcelo edged out Robertson for a place on the other side of the defence.

Gerrard still keeps a close eye on his former team and was in attendance for the epic 4-0 semi-final win over Barcelona last season in the Champions League.

The 39-year-old was also in attendance as he watched his former team win their sixth European Cup after defeating Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid.
