Steven Gerrard's SFA disciplinary verdict revealed as Rangers react to 'unsurprising' news

Rangers have been reacting to news that Steven Gerrard won't face any punishment for comments he made in the wake of the win over Dundee United last month.

The Ibrox boss was charged by Scottish FA compliance officer Clare Whyte for a statement he made about Ryan Edwards' tackle on Alfredo Morelos.

When asked if Edwards should have been sent off, the Rangers boss said: "I don't want to make any headlines and say the kid should have got this, or should have got that. I don't want to be that type of manager. But what I would say is I'd be very interested to see what the decision would have been from the officials if the shoe was on the other foot and it was Alfredo who's made that tackle."

The statement was said to have breached rule 72.

However the charge was found to be "not proven" following a disciplinary hearing on Monday, and Gerrard will face no punishment.

In a statement Rangers said they "are unsurprised at the outcome of today's hearing but remain bemused that the charge was brought against our manager Steven Gerrard in the first place.

"We now look forward to focusing on more important matters on the field of play."
