Steven Gerrard's Rangers revolution won’t just interest England but 'important' European clubs claims Brian Laudrup

Rangers legend Brian Laudrup reckons there will be teams on the continent hoping to poach Steven Gerrard as well as English sides.

The Ibrox manager has taken the club from despair to an unbeaten title in three years and Celtic now have a challenge on their hands to wrest back the title next season under their new boss.

At some point he will depart Glasgow and the obvious link is to former side Liverpool when Jurgen Klopp's time at Anfield comes to an end, while Tottenham could take an interest as they look for Jose Mourinho's permanent successor.

Laudrup, however, reckons Gerrard's style of management could leave some of Europe's biggest sides interested.

He wrote in his Daily Mail column: "Finding the right words to acknowledge the depth of Gerrard's achievement is not easy. For his team to become Premiership 'Invincibles', in this season of all seasons, is just incredible.

"Gerrard has delivered quality on the pitch and been a real figurehead off it. We are now talking about one of the most promising managers anywhere in the UK. Or even further afield.

"Inevitably, what he has done will lead to more rumours of interest from elsewhere. We have already seen some stories. Big teams in England will have noticed what's going on Glasgow.

"Of course, there will always be that romantic idea about Liverpool. That won't ever go away given how iconic a player he was. And his family is still based in that area.

"At some point, when Jurgen Klopp decides to go, Gerrard's name will be mentioned high on the list of potential replacements. That's a certainty.

"But I wouldn't say it's just about England any more. I believe teams on the Continent, important clubs, will look at the way Gerrard has transformed Rangers and the way they are now playing. They would like some of that recipe.

" Rangers have put on the style and picked up the silverware. I've said many times that they play modern, progressive, attacking football with a clear identity. Importantly, they have shown it in the Europa League as well as in domestic matches. Gerrard certainly has the stature to appeal to employers at a very high level in Europe.

"He has the brand and the class. I could see these major clubs coming for him at some point. Hopefully, though, not in the next one or two years."
