Delighted Steven Gerrard has acclaimed his creative stars' contribution to Alfredo Morelos' incredible 25-goal tally - but it didn't stop the Ibrox boss playfully ribbing his confident left-back Borna Barisic.
Gerrard replied to a question about Morelos ' ongoing heroics by saluting the contribution of those who supply him.
And Barisic corrected Gerrard's assist figures for the season with a deadpan Croatian delivery.
Gerrard said: "I want to acknowledge the service he's been getting. Correct me if I'm wrong but Alfredo has six assists and Borna has 11 or 12."
Barisic adds: "11 including the national team."
A laughing Gerrard said: "Ah, you see, he's counting the Croatia ones as well.
"But listen, it's sensational numbers considering it's still pre-Christmas."
The Ibrox side faces a defining week as they head to Pittodrie in the league on Wednesday before Sunday's titanic clash with Celtic in the Betfred Cup Final .
The fixture at Pittodrie is always a powderkeg and Gerrard has stressed the importance of discipline.
The boss said: "We've been giving a message to the players since the issues we had last year.
"You can't take a competitive edge away from a player. We want them to compete and to be up for it, but you have to be disciplined as well and do it in the right manner. That's all we ask.
"We've got to thrive and embrace the atmosphere at Pittodrie.
"We've faced some real big challenges this year when you think of Feyenoord and Legia Warsaw away. I don't think any of my players will be shying away or intimidated by the atmosphere up there."
