Steven Gerrard's Rangers injury update as he urges players to knock 54s 'off the wall'

Steven Gerrard has offered timeline for when his injured Rangers stars will return to fitness.

The Premiership champions elect have been without defender Leon Balogun, midfielder Ryan Jack and striker Kemar Roofe in recent weeks, while skipper James Tavernier limped out of their Europa League clash with Royal Antwerp.

Balogun missed the midweek win over Livingston with a quad problem, but is back in contention to face St Mirren this weekend.

Jack is still recovering from a calf problem while Roofe has been out with similar.

This weekend will come too soon for both, although there is light at the end of the tunnel as Gerrard revealed when they might return.

He said: Balogun returns to the squad. Roofe and Jack are on-course to return to training after the weekend, Tavernier will be a bit longer.”

Rangers know they can potentially secure a first league title in over a decade this weekend.

A win against St Mirren at Ibrox on Saturday will pile the pressure on Celtic, who travel to Tannadice the following day.

If they fail to beat Dundee United, then their rivals will be crowned champions.

Gerrard, who was crowned Manager of the Month for February, admits he can understand the fans’ excitement and it’s on his mind, but insists his team have to ignore it and remain focused on getting the job done.

He added: “The fans are the priority here and we can relate to the excitement they are feeling. The important thing for us is to remain focused and get this over the line.”

The important thing for us as a group is to keep winning football matches and it will happen when it does. The most important thing is to get that trophy back, knock all the 54's off the wall for 55 and add to the wonderful history at this football club"
