Steven Gerrard's Rangers 'gift' claim disputed as pundit reckons Connor Goldson was Aberdeen guilty party

Pundit Gordon Dalziel believes Connor Goldson deserves flak for putting Rangers into a hole against Aberdeen.

It was fellow Englishman John Lundstram who copped the heat from supporters after he was dispossessed for the opener in the 2-2 draw, after a high-risk pass from his team-mate.

And the former Rangers striker also reckons Steven Gerrard 's verdict that the visitors received a "gift" and "didn't have to work hard" for the opener was wide of the mark.

The Ibrox side endured another misfiring night and only started to show their true worth after Scott Brown headed home to double the visitors' lead.

Alfredo Morelos pulled one back before James Tavernier converted a controversial penalty after referee John Beaton adjudged David Bates to have fouled Fashion Sakala.

And Dalziel thinks Rangers must now ditch the unwanted habit of conceding first and forcing themselves into chasing games.

Speaking on superscoreboard, Dalziel said: "I don't agree with the manager saying Aberdeen didn't have to work hard for their first goal because I thought Aberdeen pressed Rangers very well.

"They closed them down very well and put Rangers under a bit of pressure.

"I think everybody looks at Lundstram, because the ball comes into him, I cannot believe that Goldson fed him that pass.

"If you are in the position, with the experience he's got, you've got to decide to just play it over the top.

"I think Kamara in the middle of the park could have picked it up, I thought it was a real hard pass and puts them under pressure.

"I didn't think there was a lot of quality in it, Rangers seem to have this habit just now, they seem to be giving goals away and having to chase the game, come back, I think the manager is a bit frustrated."
