Steven Gerrard has shared his heartfelt reaction to Rangers ' Old Firm derby win over Celtic.
Filip Helander ’s second half header extended the Gers’ unbeaten run against their rivals to seven games.
Gerrard couldn’t be at Ibrox to lead his side due to isolation regulations, having also missed the midweek Europa League victory over Alashkert.
Also missing were first choice goalkeeper Allan McGregor and captain James Tavernier.
But Robby McCrorie and Leon Balogun slotted in to great effect for the hosts, who deservedly won and moved onto nine points from their opening four Premiership fixtures.
Rangers had been criticised for their lacklustre display in Yerevan and many had tipped Celtic’s increased firepower to cause them problems in Govan this afternoon.
And despite missing chances in both halves, the Hoops were mostly dominated by their rivals after the break.
Gerrard, who had been in contact with assistant Gary McAllister before the game, took to instagram to praise his players’ spirit and unity during what has been a testing week for the champions.
He posted: "Today we showed our spirit and unity after a challenging week.
"Players, staff and supporters deserve this victory.
"Onto the next challenge! Stay safe."
