Departing Rangers boss Steven Gerrard will reportedly pen a two-and-a-half-year deal with Aston Villa when he is officially named as their next boss.
The Villans have their man after Christian Purslow moved heaven and Earth to tempt their No.1 managerial target back to the English Premier League.
And Gerrard remains on the same trajectory he was with Rangers with his new contract expiring at the same time as his current Ibrox deal was due to be up -– according to Sky Sports.
Supporters have speculated that is due to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp's deal expiring at the same time, with both managers signing their respective extensions hours apart back in December 2019.
Gerrard is on the verge of taking the reins at Aston Villa and faces a major challenge in helping his new team up the table with a tough fixture run looming.

And he is due back at Anfield in December as he gets set to lock horns with the club where he made his name in what will likely be an emotional occasion.
Gerrard's imminent exit means Rangers are on the hunt for their next boss with former star Gio van Bronckhorst the leading candidate with oddsmakers.
It comes with Rangers legend Ally McCoist appealing for all parties to break their silence and provide updates to expectant supporters at both clubs.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said "I think we've reached a stage, I think the fans of both clubs deserve a wee bit of notice now.
"Villa fans and Rangers fans deserve a quote from Aston Villa, a quote from Rangers, or indeed a quote from Steven.
"I mean, I think it's just manners.
"If it's going to happen, let everybody know."
