Steven Gerrard reveals the Rangers education that's fired his dugout development into overdrive

Steven Gerrard reckons Rangers' European runs have worked wonders for him as a manager.

The Ibrox boss insists he's been "educated" by taking his side into battle on the continent.

Rangers can qualify for the Europa League last 32 with victory over Standard Liege at Ibrox on Thursday night.

Gerrard took his team a step further to the last 16 in 2019/20 and believes it's been crucial in learning his dugout trade.

He said: “It’s done a lot. I feel I am more educated. I feel I am a better coach for my experiences over the last couple of years.

“It’s not about me and my own development. It’s about Rangers, the team’s progression and the evolution of this club.

“It’s about getting close to where we need to get to and we all know that is success.

“In reality, we’re not going to be the favourites to win this competition, but the progression is there for all to see and that’s something we need to continue to grow.

“That comes with financial gains and putting the club in a better position. But I do feel as though I’ve learned a lot.”
