Steven Gerrard reveals Rangers chat with Glen Kamara after Sparta boos as he provides Connor Goldson fitness update

Steven Gerrard spoke to Glen Kamara in the aftermath of the Europa League clash against Sparta Prague.

The home fans - which amounted to 10,000 children and their chaperones after the Czech club were given a stadium sanction for racist abuse - whistled and booed Kamara's every touch throughout the match.

A poster reading 'Kudela Team', a reference to Slavia Prague player Ondrej Kudela who racially abused Kamara when the sides met in March, was also spotted.

Gerrard didn't notice the reaction from the young supporters during the match but was made fully aware after the final whistle.

And he's repeated a call to UEFA to stamp out such behaviour with harsher punishments as questions will inevitably raised as to why the club were allowed to get around their ban.

Gerrard said: "I'm fully aware having watched the game back with audio.

"I've spoken to Glen, he is okay, but our conversation will remain private.

"These things keep sadly raising their head and unfortunately, the punishments are not severe enough."

Gerrard opted to leave Rangers' record European goalscorer Alfredo Morelos on the bench in favour of Fashion Sakala but the Zambian struggled to make an impact in the 1-0 loss.

And the manager bemoaned a number of selection challenges as he hopes Connor Goldson will return for this weekend's battle against Hibs.

He added: "Last night we had to run fast and hard which is why we required Fashion Jr.

"In general, I'm looking to find a more settled team and find a rhythm but it has been challenging, I think it is only Steven Davis that has been available for every game this season.

"Hopefully Connor (Goldson) will get through training tomorrow and make the squad for Sunday."
