Steven Gerrard has revealed the clear message he's given Jordan Jones, and what he needs to do to nail down his spot in the Rangers side.
Jones was impressive in the 5-1 victory over Motherwell, getting on the scoresheet and looking lively throughout.
The wide man has been a peripheral figure since joining the club last summer, but will be looking to kick-start his Rangers career on the back of today's performance.
And Gerrard says he knows what he needs to do in order to get more minutes for the Ibrox club.
The Rangers boss told Sky Sports: "I thought he [Jones] was excellent. I thought he was a threat throughout. He played to his strengths, he brought his attributes to the game.
"The message is pretty clear to JJ. He shows that type of level – that's Jordan Jones. I won't settle for anything less than the real Jordan Jones.
"He showed it today. He showed it in a cameo on Thursday night, so if he keeps doing it he'll keep getting appearances for Rangers."
Gerrard says he and his coaching staff made a few tactical tweaks for the Motherwell match, and he's pleased with how his players carried out their instructions.
He added: "We played the first 45 ever so well. We changed it a little bit tactically. We knew they were going to be a back-five so we played with our full-backs a little bit flatter so we could build out, and it worked a treat.
"We had a lot of time on the ball, we could get towards their final third at ease, so I'm pleased with how it worked out. But the lads went out there and carried it out, so well done to them."
