Steven Gerrard insists the Newcastle situation is "interesting" but has refused to discuss speculation linking him with the St James' Park hotseat.
The Magpies were taken over last week by a Saudi-led consortium whose wealth stands at £300bn.

Steve Bruce is poised to be axed just as he aims to celebrate his 1000th game as a manager, but will remain in a job for Newcastle's clash with Tottenham on Sunday, the club have confirmed.
Gerrard is among those to be linked with Bruce's role, which is expected to be vacant sooner rather than later.
The Liverpool legend has begun forging an impressive reputation for himself, leading Rangers to the Scottish league title last term.
Gerrard admits he is "seeing how it develops" at Newcastle but kept tight-lipped on his own future.
He said: "I think it’s interesting, what’s happening at Newcastle," he said. "I think if anyone deserves a break it’s the Geordie fans. So I’m sure that excitement levels are very high down on the Toon.
"And obviously everyone connected with the game is looking in with interest, to see how that develops.
"But from a personal point of view, I don’t really get involved in speculation. And I wish Steve Bruce all the best."
Brendan Rodgers is Newcastle's ideal candidate and they are willing to pay his £16m release clause at Leicester.
The Northern Irishman however has his sights set on another job.
Former Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Fabre, Brighton's Graham Potter and Premier League winner Antonio Conte have also been linked with the role.
Gerrard, himself seen as a future Liverpool boss, knows the perils of being a manager and claimed he wouldn't want people discussing his own job.

"Sitting in these positions, you know, I wouldn’t like people to be speculating about my job," he added.
"For me, I am in a very big job and a very big role here which I am very much fully focused on.
"We’ve got a top of the table clash at the weekend and it’s a game I am very much looking forward to.
"I’ve certainly got one eye on Newcastle in terms of Brucey getting his 1,000th game. He’s a great character of the game, he’s someone who I have a personal relationship with and I have the utmost respect for him."
