Steven Gerrard responds to Olivier Giroud Rangers transfer speculation

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has poured cold water over speculation linking his side with a stunning move for Olivier Giroud.

French publication L'Equipe claimed the 33-year-old Chelsea striker was "contacted" by the Ibrox club over a switch to Glasgow.

Gerrard, speaking after his side's 1-0 Premiership win over Kilmarnock, refuted suggestions his side were in the mix to land the Les Bleus regular.

The World Cup winner is a free agent in the summer and has struggled mightily for game time with Chelsea this season making just two appearances for the Stamford Bridge side since Septemeber.

But it appears unlikely Giroud will be making the move to Rangers after Gerrard shot down the link with the former Arsenal star.

Gerrard said: "We are getting linked with some good players.

"I don’t know anything about it, to be honest.

"If someone knows something about it, give them my number. That’s the first I’ve heard of it.

"He’s a good player, though."

Giroud has also been linked with the likes of Inter, Lyon, Marseille and Borussia Dortmund.
