Steven Gerrard responds to Liverpool confirming Jurgen Klopp's new contract

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard reacted on social media to Jurgen Klopp signing a new deal with Liverpool.

The Rangers manager posted "Love it " on an Instagram post by the Anfield club, showing his enthusiasm for the German extending his stay at Anfield.

Thousands of Reds fans have liked the comment, while the announcement came only 90 minutes after Gerrard signed a new deal himself.

Coincidently, the former England's midfielder's deal with Rangers also runs until 2024.

It has been an excellent few days for both managers, with Klopp guiding Liverpool to the Champions League last 16 and Gerrard leading Rangers to the Europa League knock-out stage.

Some of Liverpool's current players also commented on the Instagram post to show their excitement about Klopp's new deal, including Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Speaking about his decision to sign a new deal with the Reds, Klopp told Liverpool's website: "It’s actually so easy but then in the end so difficult to explain maybe – because it just feels right.

"So far, we had an incredible journey together, each and every day felt so special."

"But it’s really about that I wanted to stay a part of this club, that’s how it is. Our relationship is pretty special so we want it to continue."

Gerrard, 39, is widely linked to return to Anfield as manager one day, but that reunion will not be happening soon after the developments in Glasgow and Liverpool today.

Gerrard spoke of his happiness at the club to the Rangers website after signing his new deal: "I’m delighted to be extending my stay at this fantastic football club.

"When Dave King approached me about the possibility of extending my contract with Rangers, it was a very easy decision to make because I’m very happy and feel that we are building something special together at the Club."

However, both managers will be back to work after signing on the dotted line. Liverpool host Watford in Saturday's early kick-off while Rangers travel to Motherwell on Sunday.
