Steven Gerrard responds to Derby County story and insists he loves life at Rangers

Steven Gerrard insists he's "very happy" at Rangers, with Derby keen for him to replace Chelsea-bound Frank Lampard.

Record Sport exclusively revealed the Rams wanted to lure the former Liverpool player away from Ibrox with a mouth-watering bonus offer of £8million if he took the club up to the Premier League.

With Lampard expected to be announced as Chelsea 's new manager in the near future, Gerrard is believed to be County's first choice to replace him.

But Gerrard, who is currently out in Portugal with Rangers for their summer training camp, says he will remain focused on the job at hand, despite being heavily linked with a move to the English Championship outfit.

He told Sky Sports News: "Yes I'm aware of it but there's nothing to say on it.

"I'm very happy. It's a privilege to be the Rangers manager and my focus is on the coming season.

"It's very similar to when there is noise around players. I ask them to stay focused on the job and that's what I'll continue to do.

"There's nothing really to add to it."

The ex-Red skipper would expect to earn a salary of around £2.5m a year at Pride Park, as Rams chairman and owner Mel Morris tries to tempt Gerrard with a move to Derby.

A report last week claimed Rangers had been approached over Gerrard but the Ibrox club dismissed the assertion.

And the Gers boss insisted he felt "very lucky" to manager "one of the biggest football clubs you can manage".

He added: "Nothing has changed in my mind.

"I was very lucky and appreciative of the opportunity I got 12 months ago.

"I came in very focused in season one. Nothing has changed in my mind.

"I'm delighted to be the Rangers manager, I'm managing one of the biggest football clubs you can manage so nothing has changed in terms of my focus."
