Steven Gerrard reiterates Rangers 'stay safe' message ahead of title party

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has urged supporters to stay safe as they celebrate the Ibrox side winning their first league title in a decade this weekend.

The club released a statement earlier this week asking fans to stick to the government guidelines over the weekend and now Gerrard has backed that up again.

He did urge the powers at be, including the government, to show some heart when he was quizzed on the issue earlier this week.

But while he has told Rangers supporters to enjoy themselves, he does believe they need to continue to follow the rules.

And he highlighted that they are slightly different rules to what was in place in March when supporters partied following the conclusion of the Premiership title race.

He said: “This is a significant moment in the club’s history and I want them to all enjoy themselves.

“I want them to enjoy themselves and obviously things have changed from the last time in March. You are actually allowed to come out now, but it is important that they remain safe, follow the rules and the distance, but certainly enjoy the occasion.

“The police and the government have put statements out and it is important that we try and follow them.”
