Steven Gerrard has pulled out of a prior engagement next week as links to the Rangers job intensify.
As Gers reportedly get closer to appointing their new boss, with suggestions it could be done by the end of the week, their former manager is one of the names in the frame.
Gerrard has been strongly quoted alongside Davide Ancelotti and the likes of Russell Martin, Gary O'Neil and Rob Edwards.
And some reports have suggested the Liverpool legend is the preferred candidate, with the fact he has been a boss in his own right handing him an advantage over Ancelotti.
Now, to add fuel to the fire, Gerrard has had to pull out of an event with former Reds teammate Djibril Cisse next week. The former France striker cited 'professional reasons' as the factor which is sure to set tongues wagging.
