Steven Gerrard pays ultimate Liverpool tribute as Rangers boss salutes Champions League heroes

Steven Gerrard has saluted Liverpool's Champions League heroes after their stunning 4-0 win over Barcelona to reach the Final.

The Rangers boss was at Anfield to witness another glory European night as Jurgen Klopp's came back from the dead to seal a 4-3 aggregate win.

Gerrard knows a thing or two about miracles with Liverpool and he was the captain when his side turned the tables on AC Milan in the 2005 Final.

Deadly doubles from Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum left Lionel Messi and Co stunned a year on from their shock exit to Roma.

And that left the 38-year-old Ibrox manager bursting with pride at the final whistle and he had a special message for the players who booked their place in Madrid on Instagram.

He wrote on the social media website: "To a man the red men were simply incredible - Wow.

"Liverpool FC, what a team."

Manager Klopp was almost lost for words as he tried to express his feelings.

He said: "The whole game. The whole performance was too much. It was overwhelming. I watched in my life so many football games but I can't remember many like this.

"Winning is already difficult but winning with a clean sheet I don't know how the boys did it.

"I saw James Milner crying after the game on the pitch, it means so much to all of us.

"There are more important things in the world but creating this kind of atmosphere is so special."

Liverpool will face either Tottenham or Ajax in the Champions League Final on June 1.
