Steven Gerrard opens up on Rangers selection headache as he offers tantalising Bongani Zungu hint

Steven Gerrard admits he's "delighted" with his midfield options as he looks forward to adding new man Bongani Zungu to the mix.

The Ibrox club beat Celtic 2-0 in the first derby of the season with Glen Kamara, Steven Davis and Scott Arfield dominant in the middle.

And the Rangers boss had the luxury of turning to Ryan Jack on the bench without even needing to play summer signing Ianis Hagi.

Gerrard admitted on Rangers TV: "I was torn about what team to pick.

"Hagi deserved to play, Jack deserved to play.

"But that midfield did me ever so well against Galatasaray and I thought it would be a similar type of game.

"To a man the three of them were outstanding and I thought Jacko came on and put in a real professional half an hour as well.

"So I'm delighted with the midfield and hopefully in 10-12 days time we've got someone to add to that as well in Zungu, who will be more ready then."

The win, Rangers' first back-to-back success at Celtic Park in 25 years, leaves Gerrard's men four points clear at the top.

Celtic still have a game in hand against Aberdeen to play but the Ibrox men have their fate in their own hands.
