Steven Gerrard 'most overrated player ever' as Rangers boss beats Paul Pogba in vote

A survey of over 6,000 football fans has named Steven Gerrard as the 'most overrated footballer' of all time.

The former Liverpool hero and current Rangers manager topped the poll conducted by AceFootball.com.

But he's in good company as he finished ahead of current Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and historic greats Pele and Diego Maradona.

And the dominant players of the 2010s, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, were also included in ninth and 10th.

Former Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk also appeared on the list, just missing out on the top 10 in 11th.

There has long been a debate on Gerrard's playing credentials, having never won the English Premier League with the Reds in a 17-year Anfield career.

But he is revered in Merseyside after his heroic performance in the 2005 Champions League final that saw him lead Liverpool to a penalty shootout win despite being 3-0 down at half-time to AC Milan.
