Steven Gerrard makes Rangers declaration as he responds to Derby speculation

Steven Gerrard has responded to speculation linking him with Derby County, by insisting he is only focused on the job at hand at Rangers.

Gerrard has been reported as Rams supremo Mel Morris’ No.1 pick to replace Frank Lampard, should he move to Chelsea .

Lampard looks set to return to Stamford Bridge as Maurizio Sarri’s replacement following his exit to Juventus .

The Rams maintain there has yet to be any contact between theemselves and the Premier League club, while Lampard is currently on holiday.

Gerrard, who led the Glasgow side to second in the Scottish Premiership in his debut season as a manager, told Sky Sports News: "Yes I'm aware of it but there's nothing to say on it.

"I'm very happy. It's a privilege to be the Rangers manager and my focus is on the coming season.

"It's very similar to when there is noise around players. I ask them to stay focused on the job and that's what I'll continue to do.

"There's nothing really to add to it.”

Gerrard is currently in Portugal with the Scottish club for their summer training camp.

Last week Rangers dismissed reports that they had been approached over Gerrard.

Asked if he still had business to do at Ibrox, Gerrard insisted he feels "very lucky" to be Rangers boss, replying: "Of course. Nothing has changed in my mind.

"I was very lucky and appreciative of the opportunity I got 12 months ago.

"I came in very focused in season one. Nothing has changed in my mind.

"I'm delighted to be the Rangers manager, I'm managing one of the biggest football clubs you can manage so nothing has changed in terms of my focus."
