Steven Gerrard makes Liverpool return as Rangers gear up for pre season clash at Premier League facility

It was familiar surroundings for boss Steven Gerrard as Liverpool offered Rangers their training facilities ahead of their latest pre-season clash.

The Premiership champions will face off against Tranmere Rovers in their latest warm-up fixtures ahead of their title defence bid.

They were able to secure top facilities away from Auchenhowie with Gerrard using his Reds connections to secure the Liverpool Training Centre facilities.

Aside from leading the former Premier League champions as captain, Gerrard was also involved as a youth coach at the club.

However, Light Blues supporters will hope he doesn't get too comfortable at the surroundings having been touted by pundits as a potential successor to Jurgen Klopp.

Rangers will play the League Two side before returning north of the border to face Arsenal in a glamour friendly at Ibrox.

They have a packed pre-season fixture list with ties against Blackpool, Brighton and Real Madrid lined up before the big kick-off against Livingston.
