Steven Gerrard makes Jordan Henderson promise and sends Liverpool message after Premier League trophy lift

Steven Gerrard says he is very proud of Liverpool after being officially crowned Premier League champions.

The Reds were handed the trophy on Wednesday night in a stunning presentation at Anfield, following their 5-3 win over Chelsea.

The victory was Liverpool’s 31st league win of the season and took their total points tally to 96 with their final day trip to Newcastle left to play.

Reds legend Gerrard was taking charge of Rangers on Wednesday night in their friendly against Motherwell.

As a result, he was not able to watch his old club lift the Premier League trophy, but he says that he will watch it back eventually.

The former Anfield icon also went on to express his pride over the achievement done by the Liverpool plays and staff.

"It is on record. I will go back and watch it. I will watch the highlights and I will see Jordan lift the cup,” Gerrard told Premier Sports, when asked if he was disappointed to miss Liverpool’s trophy lift.

“There will be no prouder man in Glasgow tonight than me.

"They have been the best team for some time now. They are champions of Europe and they have gone and backed it up by being the champions of England.

"I am very proud of them. They are a top team, have a top manager. Hopefully they can go on and build from this now."
