Steven Gerrard makes 'burying demons' admission as Rangers boss reveals his Liverpool title ecstasy

Jubilant Steven Gerrard admits Liverpool's Premier League title romp has finally allowed him to "bury a few demons".

The Anfield icon enjoyed 17 thrilling years on Merseyside but failed to secure a league triumph despite starring in a host of sides who came close to glory.

Gerrard suffered his ultimate sickener in 2014 as his slip let in Demba Ba en route to Chelsea's 2-0 win that let Manchester City back in on the road to glory.

But the 40-year-old, who remains a Liverpool diehard, admits Jurgen Klopp's side have helped heal the wounds of yesteryear as he gets ready to watch the club he loves lift the Premier League trophy for the first time in 30 years.

The Rangers boss, speaking to the Match of the Day podcast, said: “First and foremost, for me it was fantastic to bury a few demons; not all the demons but obviously from (2014) it was certainly a big relief.

"Being a Liverpool fan and ex-player I’ve known the big, long wait and I’m still in touch with a lot of the players that are in that dressing room so a lot of them shared that pain with me.

“It was fantastic for everyone connected to the club but it was mixed emotions in many ways because of my own experiences, being a fan and ex-player and a lot of my family are Liverpool fans as well.

"To be honest with you, I’m still on a really big high watching all of the TV coverage and seeing all of the emotions flying about.”
