Steven Gerrard job proposal rubbished by Rangers hero Barry Ferguson as he gives timeline of Ibrox stay

Barry Ferguson has shut down claims Steven Gerrard would swap Rangers for Crystal Palace.

The Light Blues' title triumph has resulted in the Ibrox boss being linked with various jobs, most notably his former club Liverpool as speculation grows regarding Jurgen Klopp's future.

And you can add Palace to that list as Go Football Show host Paul Cooney suggested Gerrard could replace Roy Hodgson who is expected to leave Selhurst Park in the summer.

But Ferguson rubbished the notion he would join the Londoners as there's "no comparison" between Rangers and a mid-table Premier League club.

He said: "I'm not surprised (they want him). It's clear the job he has done at Rangers has been fantastic this season with the turnaround in terms of how dominant Celtic were.

"It was a big season for him, there is no doubt, he knew he was under pressure to go and deliver and he has delivered.

"In terms of Crystal Palace there is no comparison with Rangers. Rangers are a far bigger club.

"At some stage, he will look to maybe go and try his hand down south in the Premier League, but he has only delivered one trophy so far, they still have the Scottish Cup and the last 16 of the Europa League.

"They have an real good chance of reaching the last eight. I firmly believe he will be at Rangers for a year or two.

"He will want to get a number of trophies and medals under his belt and then he may consider it is time to try his luck in English football."
