Rangers skipper James Tavernier has been urged by boss Steven Gerrard to marry his attacking swagger with his defensive responsibilities to keep them both happy.
The captain was brilliant in the 4-2 win over Ross County as he set up Joe Aribo 's opener and his teasing cross forced Alex Iacovitti to turn the ball into his own net.
That latest display secured 100 assists for the club, as he reinforced his incredible goal impact from right-back during his six years in Glasgow.
But Gerrard, while recognising the incredible achievement, couldn't help but jokingly remind his leader that Rangers are overdue a day without a defensive lapse.
The Ibrox boss said: "James is a player who has got incredible moments, his numbers for a full-back are incredible.
"He has stepped up big for me on a lot of occasions since I have been in the door. I think winning last year has made him more determined and more hungry to go and build on that,
"I can see that determination in him. He needs to keep going, keep trying to get as many as he can.
"If he reminds me about the 100 assists, I will remind him that we are due a clean sheet so we will walk away both happy."
Gerrard also set a challenge to Tavernier's back-up Nathan Patterson as the Scotland international played the final 20. minutes of the match at left-back after he replaced Leon Balogun.
And the Rangers boss is a subscriber to the theory that putting his rising star in unwanted positions will reap rewards - just as it did for him as a player at Liverpool.
He added: "Nathan Patterson needs to be put in different situations, different areas of the pitch. He has still got loads to learn, loads of growth, loads of evolving to do.
"I remember being around Nathan’s age under Gerard Houllier and I was playing left-back, right-back, holding role, left wing, right wing and it does you good for your development and growth. Receiving the ball in different areas of the pitch. I loved the way he was coming in and driving in and, who knows, we might need to use that at some point.
"Nathan can never say ‘you have never played me there before’. I have already done that and I will keep challenging him in different positions. He has played right-back, he has played as a seven and now he has played as a three as well. That will do him no harm at all."
