Fernando Torres believes former Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard is the greatest player he ever played with.
The Spanish striker called time on his storied career earlier this week and will now take up a role with Japanese side Sagan Tosu.
The Spaniard struck up an incredible bond with Rangers boss Gerrard during their time together at Anfield and Torres has paid the Liverpool icon the ultimate tribute.
Torres starred alongside the likes of Xavi and Iniesta at international level but believes the 39-year-old is the cream of the crop.
He said at a press conference in Tokyo: "The best player I played with is Steven Gerrard.
"I found he was the player who completed my game. I think my level got into a different dimension when I was on the pitch with him.
"It was an amazing three-and-a-half years playing alongside Steven and I would love to go back to those days - even for one minute."
Gerrard paid his own personal tribute to the goal machine earlier this week.
He said: "The smile says it all really. I loved playing with you and it was a pleasure to share a dressing room together.
"Fantastic player and a great person. All the best with your future."
