Steven Gerrard knows exactly who to ask if he wants to hand Rangers striker Jermain Defoe a new contract - as he revealed he and the striker work with the same agent.
Former England and Tottenham forward Defoe opened the scoring in his club's 4-0 rout of Cove Rangers in the Scottish Cup, which set up a fourth round tie with arch-rivals Celtic.
With Defoe out of contract at the end of the season the champion boss wasn't up for discussing the future of his goalscoring veteran after the match.
His player has already stated he's keen to retire in front of a packed Ibrox however Gerrard wasn't up for giving much away when speaking to Premier Sports.
He said: "All Jermain needs to concentrate on is making sure he's available for Hibs. I thought he was outstanding, very professional and he showed his class.
"He got us off the mark and he obviously did the same against Falkirk earlier on in the season.
"He's a fantastic player but if I'm going to open talks it won't be to Premier Sports, it will be to Jermain Defoe and his agent, because we share the same agent."
Ibrox legend Ally McCoist sees a few parallels between his own swan song at Kilmarnock from 1998 to 2001 and Defoe's spell at Ibrox.
But he highlighted one key difference.
McCoist said: "My wages at Kilmarnock weren't on a similar level, to be fair!
"No, he's clearly - a bit like myself at Kilmarnock - kept himself in remarkable condition."
That prompted host Darrell Currie to deliver a cheeky quip: "Remarkable in a different way?"
