Steven Gerrard in Rangers flashpoint with Fatih Terim as Galatasaray tensions boil over

It was a battle on the park between Rangers and Galatasaray and it was almost a battle off it as well.

Rangers emerged from Ibrox with a hard fought victory over the Turkish giants but it's safe to say Steven Gerrard and opposite number Fatih Terim didn't see eye-to-eye on the touchline.

TV cameras caught the pair rowing intensely shortly before Galatasaray got a goal back with Cedric Itten standing ready to come on.

The Galatasaray boss was clearly enraged by something said as he was held back from the Rangers technical area by the fourth official.

Gerrard was pictured making gestures suggesting the Turkish boss was mouthing off and talking nonsense and it continued with words at full time as well with both managers on the pitch.

It's unclear what sparked the row but both sides weren't willing to back down as it rumbled on for the final 10 minutes of the game.

Gerrard's men qualified for the group stage of the tournament with the win over Galatasaray and go into the hat for Friday's draw.

It's the third year in a row that Rangers have qualified for the group stage.
