Rangers manager Steven Gerrard says he "loves" Glen Kamara and is desperate for the midfielder to put pen to paper on a new deal.
Recent reports have claimed the Finland international, who strutted his stuff on the Euro 2020 stage over the summer, is close to agreeing fresh terms and ending recent transfer speculation.
The former Arsenal trainee has been linked with an English Premier League return but has never shown any sign of wanting to leave in his performances with his absence through suspension being sorely felt in the Champions League qualifier against Malmo.
Gerrard is hopeful he agrees fresh terms and is awed by the player's progress.
He said: "Glen's progress has been brilliant and he has become a real established international player.
"I love the kid and the player and I want him to stay."
Gers are finally ready to welcome back Alfredo Morelos but it's uncertain if he'll be in the frame to start at Dundee United this weekend.
Morelos returns from a period of self-isolation following his arrival back from Colombia and Copa America duty but his manager reckons he needs some training to get up to speed while Ianis Hagi is definitely out for the Tannadice trip after being injured in the Premiership opener against Livingston last weekend.
"We will be without Ianis Hagi," Gerrard added. "(Kemar) Roofe is available to return to the group, Kamara will return to the squad.
"Morelos is available but he will need a couple of sessions on his return.
"Ryan Jack will be another couple of weeks all being well."
