Steven Gerrard fired off a birthday message to Rangers legend Ally McCoist after his team's stunning 4-0 victory over Dutch side Willem II.
The Govan men coasted to an unexpectedly easy victory in the third round Europa League qualifier to set up a play-off round decider at Ibrox against Turkish side Galatasaray.
And the gaffer took to social media platform instagram shortly after the win to wish the 58-year-old all the best on his big day.
He responded to a jovial McCoist message explaining how a great day had been topped off by watching the team's impressive display.
The birthday boy said: "Thank you so much for all the birthday messages!
"Couldn't have asked for a better day - fun and games with the talkSPORT team in the morning, quality time with the family including a brilliant birthday feed, then to top it all off Steven and the team doing the business (and then some!) in the Netherlands.
"Perfect from start to finish. Thank you everyone! Cheers!"
Gerrard took time out from his return trip back to Glasgow to respond: "Happy Birthday mate"
McCoist later replied: "Thanks mate. Had a great day and you boys put the icing on the cake."
