Confident Steven Gerrard believes his side are closing in on a third summer signing ahead of their Premiership title defence.
The Ibrox side can already count on Nnamdi Ofoborh who signed a pre-contract in January from Bournemouth and Fashion Sakala who arrives as a free agent from Oostende.
And now Gerrard has revealed another fresh face is imminent as he continues pre-season preparation ahead of Monday's clash with Partick Thistle at Firhill.
Rangers have been linked with a host of midfielders including Heerenveen's Joey Veerman. Peterborough chairman Barry Fry also revealed they have been to scout free-scoring striker Jonson Clarke-Harris.
Gerrard enjoys a strong relationship with sporting director Ross Wilson and the pair have been working tirelessly in the search of new recruits.
And the Rangers boss admits some white smoke could be forthcoming this week with vital Champions League qualifiers looming.
Speaking to Rangers TV, he said: "The recruitment lads, Ross (Wilson) and myself have worked ever so hard to identify the targets we want.
"The board and Ross know the players I want to strengthen us and make us better and give us the best chance to be successful next season.
"Hopefully we can go and deliver them. We’re really close on one piece and hopefully in the coming days we’ll have an announcement for the fans.
"I like to get them excited this time of year , they’ve been patient. There won’t be wholesale signings because the squad is strong and good. We’ve brought some good additions in six months ago so we’re looking for quality rather than quantity at this stage."
