Steven Gerrard greets jubilant Rangers fans as punters descend on Ibrox early for trophy day

Rangers fans have already descended on Ibrox ahead of the club's long-awaited trophy day.

Steven Gerrard 's side will finally get their hands on the Premiership title as they host Aberdeen in the final league fixture of a historic campaign.

Rangers were confirmed as champions in March and thus have been made to wait for the silverware presentation to officially mark '55' and the club stopping Celtic's pursuit of 10 In A Row.

But they will lift the trophy on home turf this afternoon and supporters have already gathered in Govan to find themselves a prime spot.

Rangers have urged fans to celebrate responsibly amid ongoing Covid-19 restrictions banning large gatherings in Glasgow.

A number of supporters arrived early to catch a glimpse of their heroes and boss Steven Gerrard greeted punters as he arrived for the 12.30pm kick-off against the Dons.

Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier were also pictured saluting the crowd as they stepped off the team bus.

If Rangers avoid defeat against Stephen Glass' side they will complete an unbeaten Premiership season.

The Ibrox squad kickstarted their celebrations early on Friday night asTavernier dished out 55 bottles of Armand de Brignac - a £250 champagne - to team-mates and staff.

Each bottle has '55' engraved on the front with Gerrard, coach Michael Beale and backup goalkeeper Andy Firth showing them off on social media.
