Steven Gerrard gives the perfect response to Alexander-Arnold and Robertson after Fifa best team snub

Steven Gerrard has shown his support for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson after the full-backs were left out of the Fifa Fifpro Team of the Year.

The former Liverpool captain shared a picture of each player with the caption: "We know so it doesn't matter."

The omission of Arnold and Robertson has caused controversy with many thinking the Champions League winning pair were worthy contenders.

The full-backs were top of the assists chart in the Premier League last season with Arnold making 12 and Robertson just behind with 11.

The Liverpool duo were beaten by Juventus player Matthijs de Ligt who was voted in at right-back while Real Madrid's Marcelo was given the left-back position.

Gerrard's post followed that of Reds defender Dejan Lovren who also shared a picture of Robertson and Arnold with the caption: "The BEST LB and RB in the world."

Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson were the only Liverpool players to make the team and the eleven did not include anyone from Premier League Champions Manchester City.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp won men's coach of the year and Alisson won the best goalkeeper award but Van Dijk missed out on the best player award with Lionel Messi taking home the prize.
