Steven Gerrard gives injury update on three Rangers stars who will miss Kilmarnock match

Steven Gerrard has offered an update on Rangers' injured trio Joe Aribo, Leon Balogun and Jermain Defoe.

All three players will remain out for tomorrow's home match against Kilmarnock, although Aribo and Balogun aren't too far away from a return.

Jermain Defoe is likely to be out of action until after the international break at the start of September.

However in more positive news for Gerrard, Allan McGregor is likely to return having been missing for the last three games.

Gerrard said: "Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo won't make the weekend. They are the players who are ruled out. Allan McGregor is back fit, he trained with us yesterday and come through with no issues.

"Jermain Defoe won't be seen until after the international break."

He added: "[Aribo and Balogun] have both got a very good chance for next week. We obviously haven't got a game in midweek so I'd expect them to have a real strong chance for next week. But this weekend has come too soon for both."

Reflecting on last weekend's dropped points against Livingston, the Rangers boss added: "I think we've had a real strong start to the season. Yes, it was a frustrating result. Yes, I was disappointed in our final third quality on the day. But it's certainly no time to panic and listen to all the noise on the outside.

"I think we're one goal away from a perfect start, so when you analyse it properly, I'm pretty content with where we are right now."
