Steven Gerrard gets transfer proposition as former Rangers boss sees familiar face pitch Saudi reunion

In-demand Steven Gerrard has been hailed a "great manager" from an old team-mate itching to link up in Saudi Arabia.

Gabriel Agbonlahor starred alongside the former Rangers boss at international level and he made an on-air radio pitch to his old England colleague about either joining Al-Ettifaq next season either as a player or coach. Aston Villa's all-time leading Premier League goalscorer is willing to overlook Gerrard's nightmare stint in the West Midlands as he turned on the charm offensive in a bid to earn an unlikely role in the Middle East.

Agobonlahor, in playful mood while speaking to talkSPORT, said: "Great move, for a great manager. I have been a real spokesperson for the Saudi League. I think it's timed you repaid me. I am two years younger than Cristiano Ronaldo, I punch harder than Ricky Hatton and would only cost half of Ruben Neves.

"Even as one of your coaches, imagine me, my experience in the game helping out your players. I look forward to seeing what you offer, Stevie. Come and get me, Stevie."

Observers in the Middle East have pointed out the current Al-Ettifaq side lack the. box office names of their rivals, however, they finished seventh in the 16-team top flight last time out and will aim to improve under Gerrard's guidance.
