Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has said the stick he received at a "relatively quiet" Old Trafford on Monday night was "water off a duck’s back."
The Liverpool legend was unsurprisingly subject to jeers from the Manchester United supporters throughout the FA Cup third round encounter, in which Villa eventually suffered an unfortunate 1-0 loss.
Before the game, Gerrard was the topic of numerous chants from the Stretford End and the former midfielder actually turned to face United's most vociferous stand as he walked out of the tunnel.

As a player, the Reds icon tormented the Red Devils on numerous occasions, with his kissing the camera celebration at Old Trafford almost becoming trademark.
While his team were unable to get one over on United on Monday, Gerrard didn't miss the chance to take a sly dig at his long-term rivals after the game.
"It was relatively quiet – I have been to noisier stadiums than this," he said when asked about the Old Trafford atmosphere, per the Guardian.
"It was a good cup tie, a good atmosphere but in terms of what I got, water off a duck’s back."
Indeed, Gerrard appeared more unsettled by the VAR decisions on the night, as Danny Ings' second-half finish was controversially ruled out.
Referee Michael Oliver was eventually asked to assess the incident on the pitch-side monitor and the goal was eventually ruled out for offside at the end of a lengthy process.
"The disappointment was that it took three and a half minutes to iron it out," he said. "We had the momentum at the time and that three and a half minutes took a lot of the sting out of the game. But it’s not the reason we lost. We need to focus on other things, not just VAR going against us."
Gerrard and Villa will have the chance to earn instant revenge in the Premier League on Saturday evening, as Ralf Rangnick and his inconsistent United outfit head to the Midlands.
