Steven Gerrard discusses Glen Kamara to Juventus report as Rangers boss heaps praise on midfielder

Steven Gerrard has played down reports linking Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara with an £8million move to Serie A giants Juventus.

The Mail on Sunday claimed Maurizio Sarri's side were contemplating a move for the Finnish international in January.

The 24-year-old has been a big success at Ibrox since securing his bargain £50k move from Dundee in January earlier this year.

Kamara has earned rave reviews for both club and country this season, helping Finland qualify for a major tournament for the first time in their history.

But Gerrard , who revealed last month a host of top clubs were keeping a close eye on the Premiership midfielder, revealed there was no truth in the reports from this morning.

He said: “There’s nothing from Juventus with Glen so I think it’s another made up story. There’s a lot going round at the moment about quite a few of my players but there’s no truth in it.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if there’s top clubs looking at Glen - again he was outstanding, lovely to watch - and as a midfielder myself I really admire his bodywork and his shape, the way he receives the ball.

“He’s a very clever footballer and it wouldn’t surprise me if top clubs were monitoring him but there’s no truth in Juventus.”
