Steven Gerrard has described Allan McGregor as the perfect example for players within the Rangers squad.
The Ibrox boss loves working with the veteran goalkeeper and insists he has been 'immaculate' since returning to the club in 2018.
McGregor will smash Barry Ferguson's record for the most appearances in European competition for the club when he plays against Standard Liege in the Europa League, and Gerrard is delighted with how he's been.
He's revealed his pride at working with him but admits it will be worth nothing if they don't make it a successful spell.
He told RangersTV: "Allan is part of the leadership group which consists of experienced players. Players who have played a lot of football matches and who have vast experience of football clubs and how they work and the standards we’re trying to set and Allan has been at the forefront of that.
"He will play from the start, assuming he has no issues in training and he deserves it on merit, on his consistency and it will be a proud evening for him and we’ll all be proud of him because he deserves it.
"He’s a player the dressing room looks up to. They’re all aware of the success he’s had before and everyone is aware of what the club means to him and the age he’s at.
"He’s a big part of it and we’d love nothing more than for Allan to make this spell at Rangers for a second time a successful one.
"He’s been immaculate on and off the pitch in terms of his consistency. I’m sure he’s enjoyed the last couple of years like we all have but Allan McGregor certainly makes our team and our squad stronger for what he gives us on and off the pitch."
