Steven Gerrard bristles at Rangers '7 out of 10' claim as Ibrox boss left surprised by Poznan performance query

It's perhaps a sign of how far Rangers have come under Steven Gerrard that people were expecting a comfortable victory over Lech Poznan on Thursday night.

Rangers did win 1-0 and Allan McGregor was rarely troubled so although the scoreline didn't show it, it was as comfortable as you could expect at that level.

And it's fair to say Gerrard wasn't impressed with some suggestions that Rangers were relatively average against Poznan in the Europa League.

He reacted with disdain as he was quizzed on the performance following the victory over the Polish outfit.

During his post-match press conference, it was put to him that Rangers had become so comfortable at European level that they don't need to be at their best to get all three points.

He was asked: "Poznan had some comfortable possession tonight but never really bothered you in front of goal, how pleasing is that? Two clean sheets in two games and it seems like you don’t need to get into your top form at this level now, it seems like you’re comfortable at getting over the line even with a seven out of 10 performance?"

And he responded: "Is that what you’re calling it? Seven out 10?

"I think we were watching two different games because I’ve just seen my team work ever so hard against a good dangerous team so we must have been watching completely different games. We’re on different pages with that one."
