Steven Gerrard brands Rangers 'lucky' as he delivers honest verdict on St Johnstone penalty calls

Steven Gerrard admits "lucky" Rangers were fortunate not to concede two penalties at St Johnstone.

The Ibrox side were denied their 30th victory of the Premiership season by a late Liam Craig spot-kick but their manager reckons the hosts could have had another.

Referee Euan Anderson earlier penalised Scott Wright for handball in the box before overturning the decision following consultation with his assistant.

Wright's well-taken goal - his first for the club - had given Rangers a second-half lead but Gerrard believes Callum Davidson's side deserved a share of the spoils.

"We'll take the point and we'll move," the Rangers boss told the club website, with the two sides set to meet again in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.

"Coming here tonight you could tell clearly with my decisions before the game, during the game and at the very end, the game was all about the weekend.

"I wanted to give people an opportunity tonight and we nearly took maximum points by not playing well.

"We've got no complains in terms of the result, it's shame we didn't see the game out because I think we made some poor decisions in the final moments of the game.

"All-in-all we take the point and move on, it was a penalty and we're probably lucky not to concede another.

"I think probably our goalkeeper has been a little bit busier then theirs so we've got no complaints."
