Steven Gerrard blasts Ryan Porteous Rangers track record as he issues pointed reminder after 'leg breaking' tackle

Fuming Steven Gerrard insists Ryan Porteous could have broken Joe Aribo's leg as he slammed the Hibs defender.

The centre-back was shown a straight red card for a lung on the Rangers playmaker in the first half during the win at Ibrox.

Gerrard wasn't prepared to let the tackle slide as he let rip on the 22-year-old, claiming he could have broken Aribo's leg.

The Ibrox boss pointed to the history books nothing it's not the first time the defender has been caught up in an incident like this.

He reminded Hibs ' star Poretous of his previous horror tackle on Lassana Coulibaly where he was shown a yellow after catching the French midfielder high and late.

In a scathing rant, Gerrard said: "I know one or two things about bad tackles, because I've made a few myself, so I'm not in a glass house here.

"“It’s a wild tackle. It’s a leg-breaking tackle if he catches him. The kid only has to play the ball, so I don't know why there is any reason he needs to go in with that intent.

"It's the second time he has done it against us because he has done it to Lassana Coulibaly before, so the kid is obviously not learning.

"He has let his manager down and his teammates down today, but that is obviously Jack's business.

"There is no defending a tackle like that. The speed of it, the height of it, and the force, doesn't belong on a football pitch.
