Dirk Kuyt reckons it's more a matter of 'when' rather than 'if' Steven Gerrard will take over as Liverpool boss.
The Rangers gaffer has been heavily tipped to be the man to replace Jurgen Klopp when the time comes along after a successful start to his managerial career at Ibrox.
Former Anfield star Kuyt says he's not sure if it will be Klopp he replaces, but he is "definitely sure" his former team-mate and captain will be in the Merseyside hot seat one day.
Since arriving in October 2015, the German boss has transformed Liverpool into a trophy winning team in both Europe and England, leading them to Champions League glory in 2019 and the Premier League title in 2020.
Meanwhile, across the border, Liverpool legend Gerrard led Rangers to their first Scottish Premiership title in 10 years last season.
Former Netherlands striker Kuyt reckons Gerrard's opportunity at Liverpool will come soon enough - and when the offer does comes in, he is certain he will snap it up.
Kuyt told Kelbet.nl : "It’s difficult to manage time in football.
"In the Netherlands we always say: 'When the train comes by, you need to step up.'
"I don’t know if Stevie [Gerrard] will be the next Liverpool manager after Jurgen Klopp, but for me it’s definitely sure that he would one day be the coach and manager of Liverpool.”
