Jurgen Klopp has been backed by fellow Premier League bosses in his call for more clarity regarding Covid-19 in the Premier League.
And Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has confirmed that managers will meet on Monday to discuss the growing number of coronavirus cases in the top-flight.
Gerrard, now in charge of Aston Villa, and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel supported Klopp in his claim that more transparency is required when Covid outbreaks lead to matches being postponed.
Liverpool were without Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones for Thursday night’s win over Newcastle United at Anfield but Klopp insisted there was never an intention to get the game called off.
He said: “I think at one point we have to make clear what exactly the rules are but of course with three players out of that squad we wouldn’t have asked to not play a football game.
“It's just we don’t know anything about any other club. Newcastle had no idea that we had cases.

“I think we had no idea if they had cases or not or this kind of thing. It’s just getting a bit of conversation but for us of course we didn’t think about that.”
The Premier League has already postponed five matches from this weekend’s round of fixtures as clubs struggle to deal with a rise in cases.
And Chelsea manager Tuchel said: “It is not in my hands but clarity and transparency is always good in every subject.
“I know the rules now, I did not get involved too early. I read them and then immediately forgot them because there are so many of them.”
Chelsea dropped points in the title race as they drew 1-1 at home to Everton on Thursday night as their squad was depleted by Covid.
“No more positive tests but the lottery starts again tomorrow morning or tomorrow afternoon,” Tuchel added.
“We are happy at the moment that Kai [Havertz] has more than only one negative result so he was back in training.”
Villa boss Gerrard also backed Klopp.
He said: “On the back of what a lot of managers have said, we want the same thing which is for the game to continue.
“There are obviously a lot of concerns and a lot of unanswered questions."
At his press conference before Villa's home clash with Burnley on Saturday, Gerrard also confirmed that Premier League managers will convene on Monday to discuss the growing number of Covid-19 cases at top-flight clubs.
Gerrard, who will be without six players against the Clarets, continued : "That's the reason that the Premier League have put in place an opportunity for all the managers to get together and I am hoping that there will be a lot of clarity which will come off the back of that meeting.
"There is also an opportunity for the captains to get together to speak and have a debate on what is the best thing to do in the current situation.”
