John Hughes believes Rangers' success shows that every manager needs time as he reveals Steven Gerrard 's "three years in the making" post-match quip.
The Ross County boss was blown away by the Ibrox men when they turned his side over in a 5-0 win thrashing.
Hughes is known for his devotion to passing football and has been open in his admiration for the style Gerrard has his team playing.
He told the Liverpool legend as much after the match and believes the response he received shows the importance of being given time in the hotseat.
Hughes told BBC Sport of the post-match debrief: " Rangers were too good for us - rightly so.

"They're a better team, better individual players, bigger budget - that's what you're up against
"But as a coach you still sit back and appreciate the style of football they played - that's proper football.
"I got a wee chance to speak to Steven Gerrard after it, and I said that: 'Your team plays proper football.'
"He says: 'Thanks very much, it was three years in the making.'
"That's it. Every manager needs time."
