Rangers boss Steven Gerrard admits it's his "aim" to become the manager of Liverpool.
The Reds icon was named by current boss Jurgen Klopp as the man he believes should follow him in the Anfield dugout.
Gerrard has never hid his desire of one day returning to the club he loves and has once again reiterated his ambition to become the manager of Liverpool .
Interest was further piqued when both Gerrard and Klopp signed new deals to keep them at their respective clubs to 2024 on the same day earlier this month.
But the Rangers boss has made clear on a number of occasions his sole focus remains on securing silverware for the Premiership side.
And Gerrard, speaking with close Liverpool pal Jamie Carragher on The Greatest Game podcast, admits nothing has changed when it comes to his ultimate goal.
He said: "My aim, dream would be to manage Liverpool Football Club, of course it would."
Klopp believes Gerrard is the perfect man to continue his work as the German closes in on ending a 30-year wait to win the English Premier League.
Speaking in September, he said: “If you ask who should follow me, I’d say Stevie. I help him whenever I can.
“If someone gets your job, it’s not about them, it’s about you not being good enough.
“I’m old enough to know that I give this job everything. I’m not a genius, I’m not perfect, but I give the club 100 per cent. If that’s enough, great. If it’s not, then it’s just the problem of the situation."
