Steven Gerrard accepts ban after Rangers boss is charged for comments made to Bobby Madden

Steven Gerrard has accepted a one-match ban he was offered for "misconduct".

The Rangers boss was charged on Thursday morning for an incident following Sunday’s defeat to Celtic.

Record Sport understands the former midfielder made comments to referee Bobby Madden which proved unacceptable to the SFA.

On a busy day on Hampden’s sixth floor, the governing body also charged Rangers, Celtic and Scott Brown for incidents during or following the Hoops’ 21 victory at Celtic Park.

Celtic have insisted they will fight the charge but Gerrard has accepted his, which read: "No member of Team Staff shall commit Misconduct at a match."

Ryan Kent , meanwhile, has lost his appeal against a two-match suspension.

The winger was offered a ban for striking Celtic captain Brown but chose to contest it.

However, the decision has been ratified and Kent will now miss the Motherwell clash on Sunday and the first game after the split.
