Steven Davis signs new one-year contract with Rangers

Steven Davis has signed a new one-year deal with Rangers.

The Scottish champions announced the contract extension on Saturday morning which will take Davis up to the summer of 2022.

The Northern Ireland captain has been a key member of Steven Gerrard's title-winning side this season.

The Ibrox club ended Celtic's hopes of a fabled 10-in-a-row with a dominant display in the Scottish Premiership.

Davis' deal with Rangers follows the 36-year-old's commitment to Northern Ireland, with the former Southampton midfielder continuing into the 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign.

He is set to equal Peter Shilton's British caps record next Thursday against Italy, with Davis set to make his 125th international appearance in Parma.

Davis has made 40 appearances for Rangers this season, including 29 in the Scottish Premiership.

He is set to make that 30 in Sunday's Old Firm at Parkhead.
